In my series of flower paintings, I was interested in showing the idea of a macro view of a flower in close up perspective, and then the distance of a landscape. I once read that flowers are the physical manifestation of angels on earth and I thought that sounded beautiful and I was inspired by that thought. I got a good feeling from the subject matter and experienced many moods while I painted the different flower images and by use of color I tried to convey those moods. I also liked showing unusual perspectives and vantage-points and was trying to move the eye from the foreground detail to the distant horizon. I used a slanted horizon line to add movement and depth to the composition. This idea progressed over the course of this series, my first few flower paintings were more concentrated on the close up view, color combinations and texture.
